Lanaioli: Slow Fashion and Sustainability
The history of the Italian Lanaioli: know-how that goes back centuries
In ancient Florence of the 1300s, the Lanaioli were members of the Corporation (or Guild) of the Wool Art. This corporation brought together owners and workers dedicated to wool processing, from the selection process, through carding and combing, to spinning and the production of clothing and other domestic uses.
In those years, power was held by the Arts in Florence, practically excluding the nobility. The Wool Corporation was the most influential among these Arts and contributed significantly to the city's economic growth. Wool production covered up to 10% of the wool needs of the entire Western world at the time.
The rediscovery of 100% Made in Italy artisanal work: knowledge and expertise serving Slow Fashion
Our entrepreneurial journey starts here: yesterday as today in our country some specific manufacturing skills have remained unchanged and indeed have been strengthened. Queste competenze sono state coltivate nel corso dei secoli, dalle prime forme organizzate nelle Corporazioni nel Medioevo fino ai giorni odierni.
The rediscovery of artisanal productions and the creation of High-Quality textile products necessarily involves a know-how that, in Italy, goes back centuries.

In a world of mass production and leveling of production standards, our project is counterintuitive and puts man and his knowledge at the center, his technical ability, favoring the care for details that only artisanal production can provide, over the large volumes of industrial machines.
Our energies are also devoted to providing the men and women who diligently work on our garments with a careful and scrupulous selection of yarns. Our choice of suppliers inevitably falls on the best wool spinning producers in Italy, undisputed world leaders in this market.
Lanaioli is Quality and attention to detail, without compromise
For us Lanaioli, the passion for the Quality of workmanship and raw materials is unquestionable; it is a choice in which we do not want to compromise.
The attention to the ability to know how to do calls us back to the idea of homo faber, understood both as a craftsman capable of making a creative effort who produces a High-Quality garment, but also seen as a man creator and maker of his own destiny.
Regenerated yarns to spread a concept of sustainable fashion
Since the establishment of our project, we have wanted not only to do business, produce and sell clothing, but to be part of the change in our sector. For this reason, we embraced the idea of starting a collection of garments made from Regenerated Yarns.

Only natural fibers to reduce environmental impact
Cashmere, the most precious of the yarns with which we make our garments that we put on the market, is available to our customers most attentive to the unique characteristics of this fiber. Furthermore, for customers more sensitive to environmental issues, we have created from the start a 100% Regenerated Cashmere line, in no way inferior in Quality to Pure Cashmere.

Project to recover Merino wool production in Italy
Attention to a sustainable entrepreneurial project does not stop at the recovery of recycled material. Our entrepreneurial idea continues to aim, in the medium term, to create a short supply chain at Km0 of Merino wool.

Italian production of wool from sheep and goat farms has become increasingly low over the years until it almost disappeared: for a long time the fibers that make up our clothing have come from remote regions of the world. Just think of Merino wool which mainly comes from Australia or Cashmere itself which originates in the eponymous Kashmir region between India and Pakistan and then spread elsewhere.
Here we stubbornly intervene by starting a dialogue with breeders, fiber processing companies, textile production companies, and institutions to create a plan for recovery for local animal fiber productions. The goal is to produce a yarn that can compete with foreign markets and realize, even if only in a small part, our own Km0 production.
Our Lanaioli Vision: less resource waste for sustainable and ethical fashion
The saving of water, electricity, fuel for transport, and the related CO2 emissions from all the production and travel steps needed to bring a garment into our wardrobes would be truly enormous. We too want to contribute to change.

We want our customers to be co-protagonists of a visionary project whose ultimate goal is the dignity of work, the saving of natural resources on our Planet, and the revival of true Made in Italy, from raw material to finished product.
We share our culture and our Values with Customers
Lanaioli wants to contribute to retracing and making even greater the vision and experience of the founders of the ancient Wool Art.
We share the idea of business only if it is represented by responsible choices in which Values, Man, and the Environment come before business.
