There is a time of year when, behind the scenes at Lanaioli, the atmosphere changes even before the temperature outside does. It is when the first yarns arrive at the workshops, the designs for new pieces begin to take shape on the artisans’ tables, and we start wondering how to tell you all about it without stopping ourselves from surprising you on the actual launch day. Well, that time has come again, and this time we have decided to give you an early glimpse: we are preparing something important for fall-winter, and we cannot wait to start telling you about it, one piece at a time.
We will not reveal everything today, but we can tell you that the work is moving in three different directions, all consistent with the path we chose from the very beginning: that of slower, more conscious fashion, closer to the land from which it comes.
The first direction concerns the very heart of Lanaioli: our short-supply-chain merino wool. Those who have been following us for some time know how much work goes into every skein produced by our farms in Central Italy, and how much care we put into every step, from shearing to spinning. For fall-winter, we are working to expand our range of pieces made with this very wool, giving you even more ways to choose a garment whose origins you already know. There are developments in this area that are particularly close to our hearts, but for now we will stop here: we will return to the subject soon, with all the details it deserves.
The second direction is, in a sense, a discovery for us too. We have always worked with natural fibers, but we are expanding our palette of sustainable raw materials by looking to yarns with equally interesting stories: hemp, linen, nettle, and organic cotton. Ancient fibers, some of them almost forgotten, that combine lightness, breathability, and a lower environmental impact than many more widespread alternatives. They will not replace our merino wool, which remains and will remain our cornerstone, but will complement it to create different pieces for those seeking variety without ever compromising on the naturalness of the materials.
The third new development is perhaps the one we are most excited to share, because it comes from work done entirely by hand: the launch of our new line of women’s bags, crocheted with ribbon yarn or cord, one piece at a time, by the hands of our artisans. Those who know us understand how strongly we believe that accessories are an ideal gateway into the Lanaioli world: unique, versatile pieces, also perfect as gift ideas, that let you bring home the quality of a Made in Italy piece from a short supply chain or made with regenerated yarns without necessarily investing in a complete knitwear garment. The bags will join the hats, gloves, and scarves you already know, completing an accessory collection designed to accompany you in every season.
Three different paths, one common thread: continuing to show that fashion can be made in a different way—more slowly, more artisanally, and with greater respect for people and the environment. In the coming weeks, we will return here on the blog and on our social channels to tell you about every new development in detail, piece by piece, yarn by yarn, bag by bag.
For now, our invitation is simple: stay with us. Subscribe to the newsletter if you have not already, keep following us on Facebook and Instagram, and keep an eye on this blog. Something really is brewing at Lanaioli, and we cannot wait to serve it to you.
